That is too bad. Then it must be a watered down U.S. History class. I personally love to read and study on all kinds of history. U.S. History is so much more then what is in text books today.

Read some Stephen Ambrose books. Easy to find at the book store. He wrote "Band of Brothers" in case you didn't know who he is. One of my personal favorites of his is: UNDAUNTED COURAGE: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West. WOW...never did I ever know anything about Lewis & Clark until I read that book. All the info you learn in school about those men and the people they met along the way is so watered down. His book opened my eyes wide!

Also another real good book on the U.S. by Stephen Ambrose is Nothing Like It in the World: The Men Who Built the Transcontinental Railroad 1863-1869. We would not be the power house country today if it wasn't for the building of the railroad across the country. The railroad was our first big corporation. Before Big Steel, before General Motors, etc.

And finally for real fun...read Bill Bryson's works. My favorite is Made in America. It is about the english language and how it developed in the U.S. Very interesting and funny. Learing how slang words came into being was very interesting. Another favorite of mine is his In a Sunburned Country. Since I read that book I really..really want to go to Australia sometime in my life.
He has many many others that inform you and make you smile while doing it.

I'm also a big fan of history, would have to be one of my favorite subjects. I'll definitely look into it. I'm in desperate need of new reading material. Only problem is the money for these books >.< Thanks for the advice.

Is there a site upgrade going on? I don't seen any avatars or forum ranks.

And this reply window looks different too.

Back from my trip up north to see my mate at Sheffield University. Colchester to Sheffield, long way to the M25 and up the M1. Only passed my test 3 months ago but I'm okay with driving on the motorways.

Had a good time up there but on the way back I was in a car crash

I don't have anything else to say I'm still in shock

My obsessive compulsive tendencies are coming out right now with the website being a little off-kilter.

..What...The...Hell... What is the deal with the avatars? If clicking is the only way to see avatars, then that's it. I'm done. Signatures was one thing, but this is tooooo far.
